Holiday rental listing sites with FREE advertising for gites in France (and a couple of paid recommendations)
Would you like to advertise your rental property in France without getting out your credit cards to pay a hefty bill first. Many sites allow this by the use of other advertising on their sites - typically by selling associated services, such as car hire or advertising space?
There are many sites that offer free advertising for your gites, the majority of which simply never deliver the customers that you need. But many expensive paid sites also fail to deliver results. The purpose of this page is to identify those sites where we believe a free advert is worth the effort. The sites listed have options where you can list a property free, or have a free option, or have no need for payment at the time of adding your property.
Below that we then suggest a couple of paid listing sites where you might like to advertise your property.

Recommended Free Sites
france4families Popular site, you can have a link to your rental property added for free to a map of the region where it is found
gitesdefrance.info Another promising new site, also requires a link back from your own website. Selective, and only intends to list 400 properties.
travel-library.com advertising is kept free for property owners through the use of other advertising on the site
rentability.com A new site that looks very promising. Adding a property is free, with a charge then being made for each booking enquiry received - currently £1.50 per booking, with a ceiling of £75 per year.

Paid Listing Sites
Just to round things off I'm afraid we do recommend you also have a couple of paid adverts.
For UK based sites try one (or both) of www.ownersdirect.co.uk and www.holidaylettings.co.uk (each cost about £130 per year)
To target customers in the USA, and I highly recommend you do simply
because most owners from the UK completely ignore this market, you could
list with
HomeAway,
a very large and popular group of US targetted property listing sites
(current rate around £150 per year)
Overall
Follow the list above, total cost including paid options is about
£300 per year, and you should be well on your way to getting plenty of
bookings! Remember to monitor which sites send you enquiries and
bookings so you can modify your listings next year as required.
