This beautiful farmhouse for vacation rental is the result of two American architects, who converted it from a tiny fermette and its outbuildings to a welcoming, spacious, characterful home, full of light. It has 240 degree views over gorgeous, unspoilt Gascony and stands on over two acres of land. Au Chicot has four bedrooms, three with ensuite bathrooms, and a family bathroom, and its own private pool. It has everything you need, and more, for an away-from-it-all holiday, and is suitable for families, groups of friends, golfers, walkers (the St Jacques de Compostela pilgrim route is nearby), cyclists - and artists! Though not suitable for wheelchair users, it is perfect for those with limited but independent mobility.

Location

Au Chicot is in Gascony, south-west France. Surrounded by grapevines and sunflower fields, it sits on a hill, just a short distance from two well-known Armagnac producers, le Chateau du Busca-Maniban, and le Chateau de Cassaigne. Though on most days all you can hear are bees, crickets and the drone of a distant tractor, the house is at the head of a tiny hamlet and a ten-minute drive brings you to the delightful town of Condom, with its river, cathedral, twice-weekly market and wide range of restaurants, including the Michelin-starred La Table des Cordeliers. The towns of Eauze and Vic-Fezensac are also not far, giving you even more choice of shops, markets and activities, and you are within 15 minutes of three of 'les Plus Beaux Villages de France': Larressingle, Fources, and Montreal.
