Surrounded by ever changing countryside, forest and mountains views. Magnificent sunsets and intense colours. Excellent walking and cycling countryside, swim in the local lake or the clear waters of the rivers. Fresh bread from the boulangerie in village. Birds of Prey,red kites,sparrowhawks, deer, red squirrels, wild mushroom and flowers are abundant in the forest.

3 Beaux villages in area with river walks and main town of Brioude is just 20 mins drive offering Saturday markets, restaurants, banks, fishing, canoe/kayak, famous romanesque church, museums etc.

July and August - Saturday to Saturday, but out of season shorter breaks are available. Also longer stays for house hunters. We are open all year. Please contact us for latest rates and availability.

Location

We are in the heart of the Livradois Forest Regional Park at 860M altitude,in the Haute Loire department of Southern Auvergne. 3 kms from Champagnac le Vieux a small friendly french village, which has small local shop and boulangerie. Also a large swimming and fishing lake.

20 mins drive from Brioude. Lovely clean town and well worth a visit.

Approx. 1 hrs drive south of Clermont Ferrand and its gothic cathedral, A75 toll free motorway.

Airports at Clermont Ferrand, Lyon and Rodez

Also in area 3 beaux villages, chateaux, museums, rivers, forests, mountains, ski-ing, randonees.

Excellent area for walking in all seasons, but spectacular in the autumn with its changing colours and river walks.

Exceptional winter forest walks, we supply racquettes (snow shoes) and local maps. Return in the late afternoons to a warm farmhouse welcome with log fire and a mug of hot chocolate or mulled wine. We can also provide tasty evening meals in our Table d'hotes, which is also open all year.

Booking Conditions

Gite/Cottage for couples. Sorry not suitable for children. No smoking gite. Well behaved dogs accepted at owners discretion. 30% non returnable desposit required to confirm bookings.(UK or French cheques accepted) Remainder prior to arrival. Sorry we do not accept credit cards. Unlike other gites that we are aware of, we do not charge a cleaning charge as we rely on our customers to clean the gite before departure. However on departure, should the gite not be left in a clean and tidy condition we reserve the right to charge 50 euros to employ a cleaner. Obviously any damages will need to be reimbursed.

All bed linen and towels for use in the gite/cottage are supplied in the rental charge. Arrival after 4pm and departure before 10.00am. Rental Saturday to Saturday unless otherwise agreed, weekend breaks and midweek breaks available subject to availability, with the exception of July and August.
